The History Of Urdu Language in English

      Urdu is a language that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It is a part of the Indo-Aryan languages and related to Hindi, Punjabi, Sindhi and other languages.

     The history of Urdu can be traced back to the 8th century CE, when it evolved from Sanskrit and Persian. The language was used by Muslims in India as an Islamic idiom until it was replaced with English after India's independence from Britain in 1947.

    The word Urdu means "camp" or "army" in Turkish and refers to the fact that this language was originally a military camp language used by Muslim soldiers on the front lines of Mughal conquest,. 

 Urdu is the official language of Pakistan. It is also one of the official languages in India and Bangladesh. There are two main schools of Urdu literature- Deccani, which was written in Hyderabad, and Dahlvi, which was written in Aurangabad.

 

        Urdu has been influenced by Arabic and Persian as well as Sanskrit.

        Urdu literature is an art form that has been in existence for over 1000 years. It is said to have originated from the Turkish language, and then later influenced by Persian and Arabic languages.

Some famous personalities who have contributed to the Urdu language are:

- Iqbal (1877-1938)


- Javed Akhtar (born 1947)

Amir Khusro was a poet, scholar and musician. He was the one who introduced Persian language in the Indian subcontinent.He is referred to as the “Father of Urdu” because he made a significant contribution to its development.

      Amir Khusro is the most celebrated and respected poet in the history of Urdu literature. He was a prominent figure in the cultural life of India.

        He contributed to a great extent to the development of Indian classical music and was among the first to introduce Persian, Arabic and Turkish musical elements into his compositions. His poetry contains a rich variety of religious topics, including praise for God, prayers for spiritual purity, contemplation on death, descriptions of heaven and hell, moral lessons and advice on how to live one's life.

        Amir Khusro was born in 1253 in Patiyali near Delhi. He is known for his contribution to Urdu literature. His most famous work is called the Khamsa-e-Khusrau which is a collection of five mystical poems. Amir Khusro also wrote some of the earliest Punjabi poetry. He was a major contributor to the development of Hindustani classical music and he introduced several ragas to Indian classical music including Bhairav, Darbari Kanada and Kafi.

 

Contribution of Ghalib:  

     Ghalib is considered one of the most influential poets in Urdu literature.

   Ghalib was born in Agra, India, and was a descendant of Mughal nobility. He was also a poet and a man of letters and is often called "The Poet Laureate of the Subcontinent". His poetry is written in Persian and Urdu.

     He was also deeply influenced by the work of Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan (Mirza Ghalib) who he met later in life.

    Ghalib’s contribution to Urdu literature is immense. He was a poet, scholar and a painter. Ghalib's contribution in the history of Urdu is immense.

     Ghalib was a great poet in the Urdu language. He is often called as "Shair e Ghazal" which means "The Poet of Love"

      Ghalib was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on 27 December 1797. His father Mirza Asadullah Beg was a clerk with the British East India Company's revenue department and his mother's name was Amina Begum.

      Ghalib's early education included studying Arabic and Persian at a madrasa in Delhi. He also studied Hindi and Sanskrit from pandits in Benares (Varanasi). Ghalib returned to Delhi to work with his father but found this work unfulfilling so he joined the Mughal Army as an infantryman under the command of General David Och

    Ghalib’s Urdu is a language of passion, love, and romance. His poems are filled with the beauty of the Urdu language and his love for it.His ghazals are well-known for their use of imagery and metaphors. Ghalib's ghazals have been translated in over 40 languages around the world.

       Ghalib was a renowned Urdu and Persian poet during the Mughal Empire. He is regarded as one of the greatest poets in the Urdu language, even in the whole South Asian region.

      Ghalib wrote his poetry primarily in Persian and Urdu, but he also wrote some poems in Hindi. His ghazals are popular throughout South Asia, especially Pakistan.
