Nigar Johar became the first woman lieutenant general in the history of Pakistan

This was said by Dr. Nigar in an interview a few years ago when she was a brigadier in the Pakistan Army. At that time, he was referring to Major General (retd) Shahida Malik and Major General (retd) Dr Shahida Badshah.
Today, she has become the country's first lieutenant general after being promoted to the rank of three-star general, and at the same time, she has become Pakistan's first female surgeon general.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Nigar Johar Khan hails from Swabi District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He received his early education from Presentation Convent, Rawalpindi and then graduated from Army Medical College in 1985.
He belongs to GDMO of Army Medical Corps i.e. General Duty Medical Officers Branch. This is the field of management in medical.
He completed his Diploma in Advanced Medical Administration in 2015 from the Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute.
When the current Chief of the Pakistan Army, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, was the Corps Commander of Rawalpindi, Dr. Nigar Johar was the Commanding Officer of CMH Jhelum, which is considered an important post.
She remained Deputy Commandant CMH Rawalpindi. She also served as Vice Principal of the Army Medical College and as Major General she was appointed Commandant of the Military Hospital Rawalpindi. She was promoted to the rank of Major General in 2017 and was the third woman to be promoted to the rank of Major General in the Pakistan Army.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Nigar Johar is called a 'mover' in the Army Medical Corps, an officer who does not stop work. A doctor working under him at the Military Hospital in Rawalpindi said, "When the generals are in an office, they work there like four male officers." He has a reputation as an officer who works very hard in his professional life.
It should be noted that the promotion of officers in the medical corps of the Pakistan Army is considered to be very difficult due to stiff competition compared to other departments of the army. It is also said that having many times more male doctors in this field is also an obstacle in the promotion of women. However, the career of General Nigar Johar looks very different.
His appointment as CMH Jhelum as Commanding Officer was also important as it is a field hospital where those injured in operations along the Line of Control with India are also treated.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Nigar Johar's father also belonged to the Pakistan Army. Her husband had also retired from the Pakistan Army with the rank of Major and had died a few years ago.
Dr. Shahida Malik was the first female officer to reach the rank of Major General in the history of Pakistan, while Dr. Shahida Badshah was the second female officer to reach the rank of Major General.

نگار جوہر پاکستان کی تاریخ کی پہلی خاتون لیفٹیننٹ جنرل بن گئیں.
'آپ کسی مسلم ملک کا نام لیں یا کسی بھی ترقی پذیر ریاست کا، پاکستان وہ واحد ملک ہے جہاں دو خواتین جنرل آفیسر کے عہدے پر تعینات ہیں'۔
یہ ڈاکٹر نگار نے کچھ سال قبل اس وقت ایک انٹرویو میں کہا تھا جب وہ پاکستانی فوج میں بریگیڈیئر کے عہدے پر تعینات تھیں۔ اس وقت ان کا اشارہ میجر جنرل ریٹائرڈ شاہدہ ملک اور میجر جنرل ریٹائرڈ ڈاکٹر شاہدہ بادشاہ کی جانب تھا۔
آج وہ خود تھری سٹار جنرل کے عہدے پر ترقی پانے کے بعد ملک کی پہلی لیفٹننٹ جنرل بنی ہیں اور اس کے ساتھ ہی وہ پاکستان کی پہلی خاتون سرجن جنرل تعینات ہو گئی ہیں۔
لیفٹننٹ جنرل ڈاکٹر نگار جوہر خان کا تعلق خیبرپختونخواہ کے ضلع صوابی سے ہے۔
انھوں نے راولپنڈی کے پریزینٹیشن کانوینٹ سے ابتدائی تعلیم حاصل کی اور پھر 1985 میں آرمی میڈیکل کالج سے گریجویشن کی۔
ان کا تعلق آرمی میڈیکل کور کے جی ڈی ایم او یعنی جنرل ڈیوٹی میڈیکل آفیسرز برانچ سے ہے۔ یہ میڈیکل میں مینیجمنٹ کا شعبہ ہے۔
انھوں نے ایڈوانس میڈیکل ایڈمنسٹریشن میں آرمڈ فورسز پوسٹ گریجویٹ میڈیکل انسٹیٹیوٹ سے 2015 میں ڈپلومہ مکمل کیا تھا۔
جب پاکستان آرمی کے موجودہ سربراہ جنرل قمر جاوید باجوہ راولپنڈی کے کور کمانڈر تھے اس وقت ڈاکٹر نگار جوہر سی ایم ایچ جہلم کی کمانڈنگ آفیسر تھیں جس کو ایک اہم عہدہ سمجھا جاتا ہے۔
وہ ڈپٹی کمانڈنٹ سی ایم ایچ راولپنڈی رہیں۔ وہ آرمی میڈیکل کالج کی وائس پرنسپل بھی تعینات رہیں اور بطور میجر جنرل وہ ملٹری ہسپتال راولپنڈی کی کمانڈنٹ تعینات ہوئیں۔ انھیں 2017 میں میجر جنرل کے عہدے پر ترقی دی گئی تھی اور وہ پاکستان آرمی میں میجر جنرل کے عہدے پر تعینات ہونے والی تیسری خاتون تھیں۔
لیفٹننٹ جنرل ڈاکٹر نگار جوہر کو فوج کی میڈیکل کور میں ’مُوور‘ کہا جاتا ہے یعنی ایک ایسی افسر جو کام روکتی نہیں ہیں۔ ملٹری ہاسپٹل راولپنڈی میں ان کے ماتحت کام کرنے والی ایک ڈاکٹر کا کہنا ہے کہ ’جب جنرل نگار کسی دفتر میں ہوں تو وہ وہاں چار مرد آفیسرز کے برابر کام کرتی ہیں'۔ انھیں پیشہ ورانہ زندگی میں انتہائی تندہی سے کام کرنے والی افسر کی شہرت حاصل ہے۔
واضح رہے کہ پاکستان آرمی کی میڈیکل کور میں افسران کی ترقی فوج کے دیگر شعبوں کی نسبت سخت مقابلے کی وجہ سے خاصی مشکل سمجھی جاتی ہے۔ یہ بھی کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس شعبے میں مرد ڈاکٹر افسران کی تعداد کئی گنا زیادہ ہونا بھی خواتین کی پروموشن میں رکاوٹ ہے تاہم جنرل نگار جوہر کا کرئیر خاصہ مختلف نظر آتا ہے۔
ان کی بطور کمانڈنگ آفیسر سی ایم ایچ جہلم تعیناتی بھی اہم تھی کیوں کہ یہ فیلڈ ہسپتال ہے جہاں انڈیا کے ساتھ لائن آف کنٹرول پر ہونے والی کارروائیوں میں زخمی ہونے والوں کا علاج بھی کیا جاتا ہے۔
لیفٹننٹ جنرل ڈاکٹر نگار جوہر کے والد کا تعلق بھی پاکستانی فوج سے تھا۔ ان کے شوہر بھی پاکستانی فوج سے میجر کے رینک سے ریٹائر ہوئے تھے اور کچھ سال قبل ان کا انتقال ہوگیا تھا۔
پاکستان کی تاریخ میں میجر جنرل کے عہدے پر پہنچنے والی پہلی خاتون آفیسر ڈاکٹر شاہدہ ملک تھیں، جبکہ ڈاکٹر شاہدہ بادشاہ دوسری خاتون آفیسر تھیں جو میجر جنرل کے عہدے تک پہنچیں.
